IUPUI will always be in my heart. I began my college career in the fall of 1969 when I was admitted to IU at their extension school in downtown Indianapolis.
I was there when IUPUI was officially established and attended classes at the new downtown campus on the very first day they were open in 1971. I was also in the first IUPUI Choral Group, and we performed on May 21 at the inaugural IUPUI Honors Ceremony where Governor Mathew Welch was in attendance.
In the fall of 1971, I had to go to the Bloomington campus to take classes that were not offered at IUPUI. The two years I spent at IUPUI hold wonderful, fun memories for me that I will always cherish. I am so very happy I could attend back when it all began. Happy Birthday to IUPUI!
