I was able to attend the celebration party on January 24, 2019, and enjoyed it very much. My first connection with IUPUI was when I was a student at the Purdue campus in an associate degree program for computer programming. I had already graduated from Miami University, but was participating in this area of study with the hope of changing the type of job I had with the company for which I was working. It was during this time that Indiana University and Purdue University came together to form IUPUI.

Later, I was back on campus to work on my MBA. In those days, no building was taller than two stories. Cavanaugh Hall was very familiar, as well as the east side of the campus. My contact with IUPUI continued because my son participated with the swim team at the Jordan YMCA. That participation led to many trips to the Natatorium for practices and swim meets. I was able to see Greg Louganis in the Olympic Festival, and I volunteered for two of the Olympic trials. Because of my contact to Miami University, my husband and I went to the first IUPUI Division 1 basketball game. Ron Hunter had come from Miami, and Miami was the first team IUPUI played.
