Dr. Blake hired me with a vision of forming a choir for faculty and staff. The choir consisted of about ten choir members from various departments. The choir performed on and off campus. Our first event was the Martin Luther King breakfast, which was held at the Madame Walker Theatre Center and was televised. The choir’s final performance was at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art (during which, I must say, we brought down the house).

I then made my next journey stop at the human resource office, which is where I met my supervisor, friend, and mentor Marcia J. Combs. With the help of her very red pen for correcting mistakes, Marcia helped me to become the employee that I am today with her leadership, guidance, and most of all patience.

The next stop was under the leadership of Dean Scott E. Evenbeck of the Undergraduate Education Center where I served as the appointment coordinator.

Then in 1997, Nathan Byrer became the director for technology services in the Division of Undergraduate Education, and I am very grateful to be under his watchful eye, serving students, staff, and faculty in Technology Services.

We celebrate where we have been in order to celebrate where we are going.
